Cruise Nights

The Twin City Cruisers put on a monthly cruise night from April through October. For the past couple years we have been holding our cruises at the Toys "R" Us parking lot in Bloomington. However for the 2003 and 2004 season, we have moved the cruise to K’s Merchandise in Lakewood Plaza. The size of this location allows us to accommodate between 200-300 cars in our show area. Music is provided each month by JD's DJ's and helps to provide a great atmosphere for people to come and enjoy. You can find the schedule for the upcoming season printed at the bottom of this page.

The 2002 season turned out to be a great year. We had great weather for all but two cruises and we ended up switching locations for the last three. Unfortunately the old site was getting too crowded and we where running out of room to park show cars.  The decision was made to move the cruise to K’s Merchandise in Lakewood Plaza and we again had a record number of people and vehicles on almost every night. We would like to thank everyone for making the transition with us and for continuing to support our hobby. The Twin City Cruisers are also very proud of the money we were able to raise from the 2002 50/50 drawings. We where able to make a $125 donation to the Bloomington D.A.R.E. program, a $125 donation to the Normal D.A.R.E. program, and a $250 donation to the Baby Folds charity.

During the 2003 season we didn’t sell as many 50/50 tickets as we would have liked to. Therefore the amount of money we raised for local charities was much lower then normal.  In fact we ended raising $496.50 which was just under half of our goal. To make up the difference the Twin City Cruisers board members voted to donate an addition $503.50 from our operation funds. This allowed us to make a $500 donation to both Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Salvation Army here in Bloomington.

During the 2004 season we again did not sell as many 50/50 tickets as we hoped to. In fact for 2004 we only raised $298 from our 50/50 drawings. Not wanting to reduce the amount of money we give to local charities, the Twin City Cruisers board members voted to donate an additional $702. This allowed us to make a $200 donation to each of the following local charities.
    •     The Compassion Center ar the Second Presbyterian Church
    •     The Baby Fold
    •     The American Red Cross
    •     The Bloomington D.A.R.E. Program
    •     The Normal D.A.R.E. Program

Even though the 2005 season is just starting to ramp up, we are expecting it to be a great year. Some of our sponsors have already signed on for another 12 months and we have even picked up a couple new ones. A few of our members have paid their dues for the new season, so if you haven't got yours in, don't wait to be the last one. Of course if your not a member of the Twin City Cruisers, why not join? It's only $15 for the whole year and you get to help pick out our cruise night themes among other things.
